MDIS Partners with Teesside University, UK to offer New Bachelor\u2019s Degrees in Cybersecurity and Networks, and Information Technology.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) is offering two new Bachelor of Science (Hons): Cybersecurity and Networks, and Information Technology, to meet the increasing demand for human resources in the cybersecurity and information security industries. These new programs are the partnership between MDIS and Teesside University in the UK. \u00a0The degrees will be the same as that awarded to the full-time students at the University main campus in the UK.<\/p>\n

Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution is closely associated with the topic of cybersecurity. A rapidly increasing number of Industry 4.0 cybersecurity incidents emerge, additionally stressing the need to strengthen cyber resilience.\u00a0 The data and asserts of corporations, governments and individuals are also at constant risk with a host of new and evolving cybersecurity threats such as malware, phishing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrency, etc.<\/p>\n

As the threat of cyber attacks increases, there will be more demand for human resources with cybersecurity skills.\u00a0 Those who possess such skill sets will be in a very good positon when it comes to finding jobs and globally, it is estimated that there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs by 2021.<\/p>\n

The cybersecurity market in Vietnam is expected to reach USD$215 million in terms of revenue by the year ending 2023, according to new figures from Ken Research.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Information and Communications\u2019 monitoring system also recorded 203 million cybersecurity events in the first 6 months of 2019, an increase of 9% over the same period in 2018. In which, dangerous attacks related to Malicious code in the system serving e-government has been increased by 2 times.<\/p>\n

Therefore, cybersecurity experts warn that in the coming time, the units deploying systems and services related to e-Government should pay attention to the prevention of malicious code. According to the latest statistics of the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team, from the beginning of 2019, the center has recorded 6,219 incidents of network attacks on Vietnam’s websites; including 2,155 phishing attacks, 3,824 cases of interface-changing attacks (Deface) and 240 incidents of infected websites (Malware).<\/p>\n

Therefore, the Ministry of Information and Communications has established the Vietnam Cybersecurity Emergency Response Teams\/Coordination Centre since early this month to address cyberattack and to create a safe environment for governments, businesses and people to use digital technology.<\/p>\n

Bachelor of Science (Hons): Cybersecurity and Networks, and Information Technology are awarded by Teesside University, UK, which is a leading university with an international reputation for academic excellence that provides an outstanding student and learning experience underpinned by research, enterprise and the profession. It is predicted that the IT sector will continue to be a driving force for growth and transformation in the Vietnamese economy, especially in delivering Industry 4.0 ambitions, as this will secure the country\u2019s strong competitive regional position in the coming decades.\u00a0 The Vietnam retail market is also expected to grow at a growth rate of 26% by the next 5 years owing to rise in investments in this sector.\u00a0 This has resulted in increase in number of credit card transactions which has increased the need for efficient cyber security solutions in this sector.\u00a0 The ICT Industry is further expected to grow at a fast pace due to the Vietnam government’s desire to turn Vietnam into an ICT Power for growth and transformation of the Vietnamese economy.\u00a0 The cybersecurity and IT sectors will therefore require high demand of skilled workforce with the industry\u2019s forecast.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Vietnam has grown to become one of the most attractive investment marks in the regions across several sectors, but the IT industry and its digital economy stand as the most promising and through the steady growth of the Vietnamese economy in recent years, small and medium enterprises, large enterprises, joint ventures; or foreign-invested enterprises have high demand for human resources in the fields of both cybersecurity and information security.<\/p>\n
