With the Covid-19 pandemic still raging on in many countries, everyone has to embrace a new normal, especially in preparation for a post-Covid-19 era.\u00a0 The level of remote work in technology, telecommunications, even in the industries of manufacturing, patient care and sales transactions may be partially or fully remote. In this current economy, companies undergo digital transformation to accelerate their business.\u00a0 The IT and Engineering industries are no different and continue to find new ways to innovate. Trade is no longer the sole determinant in a nation\u2019s success, instead, technology is a more accurate measure of how advanced a country is.<\/p>\n

Vietnam is striving to introduce digital transformation in its country over the past five years, thus solidifying its effort for a digital economy and a digital society. \u00a0In this climate, there have been a wave of tech startups, as well as tech projects from multi-national companies. \u00a0With these developments in the Vietnamese tech scene, the demand for tech experts and skilled personnel will increase in Vietnam. \u00a0In a post-pandemic world, the demand is expected to increase, even more, thus making this the best time to equip yourselves with the necessary skillsets to excel in a digital economy.<\/p>\n

As such, to equip students and mid-career professionals with future-ready skills to meet the evolving industry demands, the MDIS\u2019 School of Engineering and Technology offers the Master of Science Project Management in partnership with the University of Sunderland, the United Kingdom in April 2021. This programme aims to educate project professionals to conceptualise, plan, develop, implement and deliver successful projects and students undertaking this programme will be able to broaden the knowledge and ability in relevant management skills, principles and procedures.<\/p>\n

The School also offers new programmes including the Master of Science Cybersecurity, Bachelor of Science (Hons) Cybersecurity and Networks, Bachelor of Science (Hons) Information Technology in partnership with Teesside University and the Higher Diploma in Ethical Hacking and Forensic Investigations Countermeasures. These programmes aim to produce graduates with a critical understanding of information governance and assurance, combined with technology risk management practices. \u00a0Students will learn how to explore the threat landscape and develop countermeasures for cybersecurity attacks. \u00a0Students also study security for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the security concepts and technologies used in mobile devices.<\/p>\n

For the inaugural intake of the Master of Science Project Management, MDIS is offering a study grant of up to S$4,000 to the first 5 applicants who enroll in the September 2021 intake.\u00a0 As for the Master of Science Cybersecurity programme, a study grant of up to S$4000 will be extended to the first 5 applicants for the May 2021 intake.<\/p>\n

Both MDIS\u2019 partner universities, the University of Sunderland and Teesside University, UK, are known to be innovative and forward-thinking with high standards of teaching and research. The University of Sunderland also has strong industry links and works closely with some of the world\u2019s leading companies, which in turn provides industry-relevant exposure for our students. \u00a0Teesside University is a leading university with an international reputation for academic excellence that provides an outstanding student and learning experience underpinned by research, enterprise and the professions.\u00a0 Individuals pursuing the Master of Science Project Management and the wide array of Cybersecurity programmes will undergo a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them amply for the industry.<\/p>\n

Dean of Schools in MDIS, Dr Tham Yieng Wei, shares that project management and cybersecurity skills are essential to prepare us to face future challenges which in working remotely during the pandemic. The project management programme will enhance individual skills in managing projects effectively and efficiently while the cybersecurity programmes will protect you or your organisation from any cyber threats.<\/p>\n
